The Effect Of Depressive Disorders On Compliance Among Hypertensive Patients Undergoing Pharmacotherapy

Hypertension is known to be the most important risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity. In Malaysia, hypertension is ranked as the first in the list of the 10 leading causes of hospitalization. In contrast, compliance to treatment among hypertensive patient is poor. A local study on drug compliance in hypertensive patients using the pill-counting method showed that a prevalence of non-compliance with medication of 26%.

Quality Of Life Among Preinvasive & Invasive Cervical Cancer In Malaysia

Cervical cancers are the second top cancers affecting females in Malaysia following breast cancers in the year 2003. The standardized incidence rate is 19.7/100,000 population. The figure is not the best as developed countries with established screening either opportunistic or mandatory has a much lower incidence of cervical cancer. The Pap smear coverage that is only around 30-40% of women in Malaysia contributes to this problem.

Comorbid Charles Bonnet Syndrome In Tourette Disorder: A Case Report

The term 'Charles Bonnet Syndrome' was first coined by de Morsier in 1938. It was first described by Charles Bonnet in 1769 who was later reported to have developed the condition himself. This condition is most frequently described in the elderly. It usually occurs in association with visual impairment, such as due to macular degeneration in the elderly. Tan et al reported on a series of cases in Asian patients. Sufferers are otherwise mentally healthy people.

1967, that was the year I freshly graduated as a doctor from the University of Airlangga in Surabaya, Indonesia. I found myself appointed as the first Director of the State Mental Hospital in Bali. The next 19 years was spent in that hospital before I was moved to another mental hospital in another island. Those 19 years enriched me with many unique experiences and also found myself becoming interested in psychiatry and eventually got my degree in psychiatry from the University of Indonesia, in 1973.
